Reading and Writing are my favourite things. - Reading Part 7, Writing Reports

Hello There :)

Do you agree with the title of today's post? Well I'm sure some of you don't, it's a shame. Nonetheless, they are integral parts of the exam and the more you practice the easier they become.

Without further ado (click here for meaning), the following link will take you to today's reading task which focuses on Part 7 of the Reading and Use of English exam.

Today's writing task is from Part 2 of the exam. The Report. Click the following link for some examples tips and advice.

Also check out the Aula Virtual in the documents section you'll find a Reports pdf to download. This super handy pdf will provide with a map of the structure and useful language too.

Before I ask you to write a report, I'd like you to take a look at the following exercise. Fill in the gaps and familiarise yourself with the structure and language you need to use.

Now take a look at the following report question, you'd need to write between 140-190 words
A group of English students is coming to your college. Your English teacher has asked you to write a report on one local tourist attraction. In your report you should
  • describe the attraction
  • say what you can do there
  • explain why you think students would enjoy visiting it
Before you start to write, make a plan of what points you'd like to mention, also look at the vocabulary you could use related to tourist attractions.

The next step to take is obviously to write the report. You may like to write within a 40 minute time scale or take your time with this practice task. It's up to you.

See you tomorrow :)
